Makarios

Welcome to Makarios

makariosLocated at Drama Centre, on level 3 of the National Library, in a quiet, pleasant and airy space. It is a follow-up of its sister outlet Cafe Le Troquet (established in 1985 and which now concentrates only on serving a selected menu of authentic French cuisine), with made-to-order sandwiches, delicious salad combinations of smoked duck breast, smoked chicken & avocado, smoked salmon, goose rillettes, country terrine and others….  (served with its one and only homemade French vinaigrette sauce), shakes, juices and smoothies and the well sought - after homemade soups and hot dishes such as escargot, boeuf bourguignon, braised lamb shank, duck confit, chicken in white truffle oil, quiches, pasta carbonara, just to name a few, offering an upmarket alternative to the food court.

It is faithful to the concept for healthy, good-value-for-money food and her clientele comprises both expatriates and health-conscious locals. It has been a long, difficult and most challenging experience in upholding this concept for the last 12 years but it is also gratifying to see that people do change their way of eating.

Desserts comprise French favourites such as home-made crème brûlée, carrot cake, profiterolles, as well as tiramisiu, brownies, muffins, carrot cakes, ice-cream and homemade tarts.
